We have just had the good fortune to sell our property within thirty days of listing it with one Tom Robins of your office. Before I go further, I must tell you that I never expected to have occasion to write a letter praising a Real Estate agent! (I admit to a preconceived notion that high pressure was a given).

Our experience with agents in the past has been less than ideal. Prior to listing with Tom, my husband and I decided to speak to an agent connected to a neighborhood Realtor – our logic being people wanting to live in Barrhaven would most likely think of dealing with someone “local”. The agent in question met with us, made a firm statement that she would not list our property for anything over $229K, and that even at that price we would have to be prepared to be flexible due to the “glut” of semis and townhouses on the market in Barrhaven. (she saw us realistically getting $220K - $224K – prior to her commission!!

Enter Tom! We did not tell him that we had met with another agent; he viewed our home and confidently suggested that we list at $239,000, and that anywhere from$233K to $235K would be realistic. We are now in possession of an offer in precisely his price range!! Tom was extremely professional throughout the month, always advising us himself of all showings, and always getting back to us about comments made by the viewers. He also amazed us by offering at the outset that if, for any reason we became unhappy with his services, he would not hold us to the ninety day listing period. More than that cannot be asked for!

The sometimes stressful business of selling a home has become a pleasant experience due to Tom, and I did not want it to go unrecognized. I shall recommend him with confidence.

This is a letter not only of reference and recommendation, but also one of appreciation. In the winter of 2012, my Louise wife and I purchased our first home. Although the house itself is fine and has served us well, we were never really happy with our purchase. It was made somewhat in haste, and the whole experience felt like one giant real life game of monopoly with us a couple of useless pawns getting moved around the board without really realizing exactly was happening. Afterward, my disdain and disgust with the whole process and all of those involved made me want to stay in a house that was in actuality a little too small for our growing family, rather than go through another ordeal with seemingly nothing but greedy sales agents with dollar signs flashing in their eyes. So, with a sense of great reservation, my wife and I decided to try to sell our home in the fall of 2015. All I could do was fold my hands in front of my face and shake my head knowing what was coming.

This is about the time we met Tom Robins. It is January 1, 2016, and my family and I will be taking possession our new home on January 12. The purpose of this letter, if you are still with me, is to let anyone and everyone who will listen know that Tom Robins is different. The experience this time has been the polar opposite of the first. Tom and his team, from the beginning stressed to us that they have a very simple philosophy of work. Honesty and integrity. Those words get thrown around rather haphazardly these day’s so I watched to see if they were just words.

I suppose we have all met people whose actions speak so loudly we can’t hear a word they are saying. Not so with Tom. He seemed to understand that amidst the hustle and bustle of the monopoly game, he is helping people find not just a property or a house, but as it was in our case, a home. Buying a home is important. He not only understood this, but was sure to impress it upon us. When we were a little over anxious, Tom was there to hold back the reigns. When were discouraged, he was there to offer an encouraging word, and even to listen patiently when we vented frustration.

I can’t say enough about Tom Robins and his team. I would highly recommend them to anyone and I can say with confidence, you will be in good hands. I am still rather cynical of the business as a whole, however now I know that not all agents are cut from the same mold. Tom has our highest respect, and utmost gratitude.

The buying process was merely a continuation of our very pleasant experience with you. Your broad knowledge base and experience with building, selling, and buying homes served us well again when we visited the many homes we considered to be of interest. You picked up on issues that we would not have considered or thought of, possibly saving us huge headaches. Your availability and attention to detail throughout the process were top notch.

When “the” house showed up on the market, we were excited and anxious to have found it, but you settled us down long enough to explain your game plan to us as this house had obvious interest from other parties. You made sure the property was in fact what we wanted, then took over the show, always with our interests at heart. We were ecstatic when our offer came through!

Your industry contacts were a reflection of your professionalism and your flair for first rate customer service. From the home inspector to the real estate lawyer, we never felt like passengers.

Our new house is quickly becoming a home, and we have you to thank for our pleasant experience. The unfortunate thing is that we won’t have the pleasure of dealing with you anytime soon as we figure on being here for a long, long time. But don’t be surprised if some of your future clients know us! We’re convinced the person who invented the Staples “EASY” button sold and bought houses through you – we can’t think of a more obvious source of inspiration.

Thanks again for the excellent service and invaluable peace of mind. Tom, in a day where customer service is constantly being eroded by complacency, you’re the example of how it should always be done.
